The "e-tide" application provides comprehensive access to approximately 10,000 tide locations worldwide. It is particularly useful for marine activities such as surfing and fishing. However, it is important to note that the app is not intended as a navigational tool.

Users can conveniently search for tide locations through an interactive map interface. Multiple locations are clustered based on the zoom level, allowing for ease of navigation. By tapping a map pin, users can view the location name in a pop-up, which can then be tapped again to display the corresponding tide graph. By default, the graph shows data for two weeks, starting from two days ago. Users also have the option to specify a particular date via a calendar feature, with the graph automatically updating based on the selected date.

The tide graph additionally includes visual representations of astronomical events such as sunrise, sunset, moonrise, moonset, and lunar phases. It effectively identifies times when tidal movements are substantial, which can be particularly beneficial for fishing enthusiasts. Notably, increased tide activity may slightly enhance wave sizes, creating favorable conditions for surfing as well.

Users can customize their experience by adjusting measurement scales in either centimeters or feet through the app’s "Settings" feature. Moreover, tide locations can be saved as favorites for quick access. Previously viewed locations are also stored as history entries, both of which are easily retrievable from the “Favorites & Histories” section. To remove an entry from favorites or history, users simply swipe left on the respective item in the list.

The app categorizes tide areas into seven distinct regions, which users can select when first launching the application. This area selection can be modified at any time within the "Settings." For those unsure of which area to choose, there is an option to select all available areas:

• U.S. Upper East Coast (Maine through Virginia)
• U.S. Lower East Coast (North Carolina through Florida Keys)
• U.S. Gulf Coast (East to West)
• U.S. West Coast (North to South)
• Northern sites outside contiguous U.S. (except Japan)
• Southern sites outside contiguous U.S.
• Japan and nearby sites

Upon launching, the application retrieves tide information for the designated area and places map pins accordingly; however, regions with fewer selections may load marginally faster. Users retain access to “Favorites & Histories” even while map pin setting is in progress.
